Proverbs 14:12 (KJV) There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.14.12
When we follow what seem right to us and or society (this includes the religion we chose) the chances are they they are counter to what what is right to GOD. “John 14:6 (KJV) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” https://bible.com/bible/116/jhn.14.6. There is only one way and one truth and one life giver. The consequences of going against what is right before GOD’s eye, doing things my way, is sin and will lead us to death. The death that it talks about is the second death, because in the end everyone’s body will die at some point (there where and will be exceptions which we will not go into here). The second death is eternal separation from GOD in the lake of fire.
“Revelation 2:11 (KJV) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.” https://bible.com/bible/116/rev.2.11
“Revelation 20:14-15 (KJV) And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. [15] And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” https://bible.com/bible/116/rev.20.14-15
The solution to all this is repentance. “Proverbs 14:16 (KJV) A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.” https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.14.16
Therefore let us be encouraged to know that as it says in Romans 6:23 (KJV) “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”https://bible.com/bible/116/rom.6.23
We all can escape the second death by receiving the gift of GOD that’s was made available through the cross by Jesus Christ. We receive it by believing in Jesus Christ, turning away from our sins doing what is right in GOD’s eye instead of ours eyes, calling on the name of Jesus Christ and from that point onwards following Jesus Christ.
“Romans 10:8-13 (KJV) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; [9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. [11] For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. [12] For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. [13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” https://bible.com/bible/116/rom.10.8-13
Let us pray. Father we come to you in the name of Jesus Christ. Forgive us for doing what is right in our own sight, doing things our way and not your way. We put our trust and faith in You. Help us from now on do do things Your way and follow Jesus Christ. We believe in You Jesus and what You have done on the cross for us. We receive your free gift of salvation and call on You to save us. Amen
