Love your enemies part 2 – 2024.11.22

Romans 12:18-21 (KJV)
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Today we will be continuing on from yesterdays devotion “Love Your Enemies – https://missioncommunities.network/2024/11/21/love-your-enemies-2024-11-21/

The LORD tells us as much as it depends on us to try to live at peace with everyone. He says to do that if possible because He knows that there be times when this is not possible. Even if it is not possible we still should not seek vengeance. We should leave vengeance up to GOD Himself which He might do through civil authority enforcing the law of the land or any other way. The important thing is not to take the law into our own hands and act like a vigilante. Instead of vengeance we should do good instead. Like giving food or drink if our enemy is hungry and thirsty and they do not have the means but we have the means. Verse 20 here was quoted from “Proverbs 25:21-22 (KJV) If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: [22] For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.” This shows us that by blessing instead of cursing we will give our enemies and opportunity to feel shame and might cause them to repent.

Be encouraged today, as children of the most high GOD, to be a blessing even to those who are our enemies.
“Matthew 5:44-45 (KJV) But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; [45] That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.”
