Trusting in the Word of God – 2024.11.26

Psalms 119:42 (KJV) So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.

Jesus Christ is the Word of God.”John 1:14 (KJV) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” Trusting in the Word of God is trusting in Jesus Christ and when we trust in Jesus Christ we trust in the things He says. Therefore we trust in everything written in the bible.

Jesus Christ is truth. “John 14:6 (KJV) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Everything written in the Bible is truth.

So how does it look like when we trust in the Word of God?

We believe “1 John 3:23-24 (KJV) And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. [24] And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.”
We act according to the word that we know “James 1:22 (KJV) But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”, “James 4:17 (KJV) Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”

Obeying, following the Word of God results in:

  • True freedom.
    ◦ Being obedient to (a slave) to GOD is not bondage as it brings life and liberty. “Psalms 119:45 (KJV) And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.”, “2 Corinthians 3:17 (KJV) Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
    ◦ But bondage actually is doing whatever one wants going against the Word of God. This lawlessness actually results in bondage. It brings addiction that keeps on increasing taking us further and further from the truth. “Romans 6:16-23 (KJV) Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? [17] But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. [18] Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. [19] I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness. [20] For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. [21] What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. [22] But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. [23] For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
  • Comfort and life.
    ◦ “Psalms 119:50 (KJV) This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.” “John 3:16-21 (KJV) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. [17] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. [18] He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [19] And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. [20] For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. [21] But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”.
    ◦ But rejecting Jesus Christ, the Word of God, brings on the second death “John 8:51 (KJV) Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.” “Revelation 21:7-8 (KJV) He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. [8] But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
  • Being part of GOD’s family “Psalms 119:57 (KJV) CHETH. Thou art my portion, O LORD: I have said that I would keep thy words.” “Romans 8:14-17 (KJV) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. [15] For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. [16] The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: [17] And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”

Therefore be encouraged to put your trust in or keep trusting in Jesus Christ. “Hebrews 12:2 (KJV) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”. Make a decision today to follow Jesus Christ, if you have not done this, to fully trust in Him, know His word and “James 1:22 (KJV) But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
