Psalms 119:81-88 (KJV)
81 CAPH. My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word.
82 Mine eyes fail for thy word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?
83 For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes.
84 How many are the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me?
85 The proud have digged pits for me, which are not after thy law.
86 All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me.
87 They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts.
88 Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.
There are times we face difficult situation. May they be because of what other people did, we did, or things like sickness. The situations can be so difficult that we grow weary, faint, that our body failed us, we become like shrivelled wineskins, are about to totally consumed by it all. In these times of despair the important thing for us, who know the LORD and follow Jesus Christ, is not to loose sight of but to keep on calling on Jesus.

Therefore be encourages to:

  • Not to forget His Statues (His ways). “Psalms 119:83 For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes.”
  • Not to depart from His ways. “Psalms 119:87 They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts.”
  • If we are the cause of our affliction, repent and ask for forgiveness. “Psalms 119:67 (KJV) Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.”
  • If our enemies are the cause to forgive and bless them. “Matthew 5:44 (KJV) But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;”
  • Remind ourself that Jesus Christ saves, delivers, heals. As He Himself said in Luke 4:18 (KJV) “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,”
  • To persevere and trust unequivocally in the LORD. “Proverbs 3:5-7 (KJV) Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. [6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. [7] Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.”
  • Call out for Jesus Christ to revive us in His loving kindness and keep on obeying His word. “Psalms 119:88 Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.”

Hang in there and know that you are not alone but part of the body of Christ. “1 Corinthians 12:26-27 (KJV) And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. [27] Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.”
