Everyone has missed the mark – 2024.07.07

Ecclesiastes 7:20 (KJV) For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
Sinneth here is defined as follows:
H2398   (Brown-Driver-Briggs) חטא châṭâ’
BDB Definition:
1) to sin, miss, miss the way, go wrong, incur guilt, forfeit, purify from uncleanness
1a) (Qal)

1a2) to sin, miss the goal or path of right and duty
1a3) to incur guilt, incur penalty by sin, forfeit
1b) (Piel)
1b1) to bear loss
1b2) to make a sin-offering
1b3) to purify from sin
1b4) to purify from uncleanness
1c) (Hiphil)
1c1) to miss the mark
1c2) to induce to sin, cause to sin
1c3) to bring into guilt or condemnation or punishment
1d) (Hithpael)
1d1) to miss oneself, lose oneself, wander from the way
1d2) to purify oneself from uncleanness
In other words everyone has failed in some way GOD’s standard and is in some way unjust. We all missed the mark, the target that we can not hit. This is made also clear in “Romans 3:23 (KJV) For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”.
Because of this no one can by their own efforts please GOD and get themself right with GOD. In other words no one can save themself from the judgement that is to come. Because GOD judges sin and its penalty is death and eternal separation from GOD. “Romans 6:23 (KJV) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” There are two death one is the physical and then there is the second death “Revelation 2:11 (KJV) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.” Which is “Revelation 20:15 (KJV) And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”.
Thank GOD that His gift to everyone is eternal life. The gift is there for everyone but one can only have the gift if one takes it. How do we receive the gift so freely given to us?
We need to have faith in Jesus Christ, who He is and what He accomplished on the cross “1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (KJV) For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
John 3:16-21 (KJV) summarises it all “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Therefore the free gift is offered to everyone. And we all have a choice to receive or reject it. Let us call on Jesus. He is willing to save us from our sin and hell. “Romans 10:13 (KJV) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
