Luke 5:8 (KJV) When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
To continue from yesterday about mission the mark (Everyone has missed the mark – 2024.07.07 https://missioncommunities.network/2024/07/07/everyone-has-missed-the-mark-2024-07-07/) let’s look at how we realise we are sinners. When Peter saw the power of GOD manifest by the extremely large catch of fish, he realised that Jesus Christ was GOD and holy and he was a sinful not worthy of being in Christs presence. Jesus promised the Holy Spirit who will convict the world of sin “John 16:7-11 (KJV) Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”
When we are confronted by the Holy Spirit through the Word of God and GOD’s power we come to realise that we are sinners and needs salvation. Through gospel by the Holy Spirit, GOD gives us the revelation that we are sinners and who He is and that we can be forgiven. Jesus is willing to forgive all who come to Him.
“Luke 5:20-21 (KJV) And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. 21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?”
His call to repentance is to all of us who realise we are sinners “Luke 5:32 (KJV) I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” It is for those who realise they they are sinners and helpless to cleans themself from the sin. “Matthew 5:3 (KJV) Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”. We come to realise we can do nothing for ourself, to justify ourselves before GOD, but are totally reliant on His mercy.
“Galatians 2:16 (KJV) Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” We realise that only first in Jesus Christ can save us from certain judgement to come. Let us humble ourself before GOD and call on Jesus Christ to save us.
