Psalms 13:1-6 (KJV)
1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
3 Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
4 Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.
5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
6 I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.
David asks the LORD how long he has to wait to be rescued, for GOD to answer his prayers. He feels abandoned and forgotten by GOD because of the long wait for the answer. But then he turns from complaining back to faith declaring that he trusts in GOD’s mercies and starts to rejoice and praise the LORD GOD. How long do we have to wait for GOD’s answers? There is no formula, GOD is in control and knows what is best and brings glory to Him. We cannot see the beginning from the end only the LORD can. Our wishes and timing seem good for us but GOD know better.
We can only change how we wait for god to answer.
It is ok to complain to GOD and pour our heart out for a time. But then we need to shift gears moving to trusting in GOD’s mercy, rejoicing in GOD’s salvation which will come in one way or another. Let us sing to Him remembering what He has done in the past, He can do again and that he has dealt with us bountifully with us before.
Therefore we need to learn patience “James 1:2-4 (KJV) My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”
This patience in rooted in the total trust and faith in Jesus Christ that He is merciful and good. “Romans 8:28 (KJV) And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Therefore be encouraged while waiting let us keep on loving GOD more and more focusing more on Him and less on the problems we face. For we know that “Psalms 107:1-2 (KJV) O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. 2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;”
