7 However, I consider those things that were gain to me as a loss for Christ.

We do not follow Christ because of what is in His hand;
we follow Him because of who He is.
We do not chase His gifts while overlooking His face.
We do not worship Him for what He can provide, but because He alone is worthy of all worship, all affection, and all surrender.

• His character is greater than His miracles,
• His presence is richer than His provision, and
• His glory is infinitely more satisfying than anything He could ever place into our hands.

The highest reward of the Gospel is not: heaven, crowns, answered prayers, or streets of gold—it is Christ Himself. Heaven is glorious because Jesus is there. Every promise finds its beauty in His presence. Every blessing points beyond itself to the One who gave it. The greatest treasure of eternity is not the splendour of paradise but unbroken fellowship with the King of Glory. Christ is not merely the doorway to eternal life—He is eternal life.

Love that is sustained by rewards will fade when rewards seem delayed. But love born from relationship grows deeper in every season. It remains steadfast in abundance and in scarcity, in celebration and in suffering, in answered prayers and in silent waiting. Genuine love does not measure God’s goodness by changing circumstances; it rests securely in His unchanging nature. Mature faith does not ask, “What have You done for me lately?” It declares, “You are worthy because of who You are.”

Jesus said:

“John 17:3 (WEB) This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ.”

Eternal life is not merely endless existence—it is intimate communion with the living God. Christianity is not centred on information about Christ but transformation through knowing Christ. To know Him is to discover the deepest joy, the truest freedom, and the richest purpose the human heart was created to experience.

The Apostle Paul wrote:

Paul measured every earthly achievement against the infinite value of Christ and found everything else lacking. Fame, success, comfort, influence, reputation, and possessions all became insignificant when compared with the surpassing greatness of knowing Jesus. When Christ becomes your greatest treasure, everything else finds its proper place.

The Lord calls us into covenant, not merely compensation. He desires sons and daughters, not hired servants motivated only by reward. His invitation is not simply to receive blessings but to walk with Him, to share His heart, to trust His faithfulness, and to delight in His presence. Covenant produces enduring love because it is founded upon relationship rather than transaction.

“1 John 4:19 (WEB) We love him, because he first loved us.”

Our love is always a response to His initiating grace. Before we sought Him, He sought us. Before we loved Him, He loved us. Before we reached toward Heaven, Heaven reached toward us through Christ. Every act of devotion begins with the overwhelming reality that we have first been deeply and eternally loved by God.

“Psalms 73:25-26 (WEB) Whom do I have in heaven? There is no one on earth whom I desire besides you. [26] My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

The soul that has truly discovered God no longer searches for satisfaction elsewhere. Human strength will fail. Earthly treasures will fade. Relationships, health, and circumstances may all change, but the Lord remains the everlasting portion of His people. When everything else is stripped away, those who possess Christ discover they have lost nothing that truly matters.

“John 12:26 (WEB) If anyone serves me, let him follow me. Where I am, there will my servant also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.“

The call of Christ has never been simply to work for Him but to walk with Him.

• Ministry without intimacy soon becomes empty.
• Service without fellowship becomes burdensome.

Jesus does not merely assign tasks—He invites us into His presence, where every act of obedience flows from love rather than obligation.

“John 15:4 (WEB) Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.“

Fruitfulness is never produced by striving alone but by abiding. The closer we remain to Christ, the more His life flows through us. Every lasting work of God grows from a heart that continually dwells in His presence. Apart from Him we become exhausted; in Him we become fruitful.

“Job 13:15a (KJV) Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him“

This is the language of unwavering faith. It is trust that survives confusion, disappointment, suffering, and unanswered questions. It clings to God’s goodness even when His ways cannot be understood. Such faith is precious in Heaven because it declares that God is worthy of trust regardless of circumstances.

Philippians 1:21 (WEB) For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

For the believer, Christ is not simply part of life—He is life itself. Every breath becomes an opportunity to glorify Him, and even death becomes gain because it ushers us into His unveiled presence. Nothing can ultimately rob the Christian whose greatest possession is Christ Himself.

God is not seeking people who merely desire His gifts; He is seeking those who desire His presence. The Father is raising a generation that will:

• Remain faithful in hidden places,
• Steadfast in the wilderness,
• Joyful in obedience, and
• Unwavering when no earthly reward is visible.

He is forming worshippers whose greatest delight is not what God gives but that God is with them. These are hearts that burn for His glory even when no one else is watching.

This was the heart of Moses. When the Lord said He would send an angel before Israel, Moses was not satisfied with heavenly assistance apart from God’s presence. He cried, in Exodus 33:15 “(WEB) He said to him, “If your presence doesn’t go with me, don’t carry us up from here.”.
Moses understood that one moment with God was worth more than the greatest earthly inheritance without Him. He would rather remain in the wilderness with the Lord than enter the Promised Land without Him. Moses was not seeking merely God’s hand—he was seeking God’s face. He desired the Giver above the gifts, the Presence above the promise, and communion above comfort.

The greatest miracle is not what God gives us—it is that God Himself is with us. His presence is our inheritance, His fellowship is our delight, and Christ Himself is our exceedingly great reward.

Some serve until the blessing stops. Others remain when the crowd has gone home. These are the lovers of God. These are the worshippers who have learned to treasure His smile above public applause.
They stay when:

• Miracles cease,
• Emotions fade, and
• The path becomes costly,
  Because they have discovered the greatest secret of all—that Jesus is enough, has always been enough, and will forever be enough.

Peter answered Him:

“John 6:68 (WEB) Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.“

When every other voice disappoints, Christ alone speaks life. When every earthly foundation shakes, He alone remains unmovable. There is nowhere else to go because no one else possesses the words that awaken dead hearts, sustain weary souls, and lead into everlasting life.

“Genesis 15:1 (WEB) After these things Yahweh’s word came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Don’t be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.””

God did not simply promise Abram a reward—He declared that He Himself was the reward. The Lord has always been the inheritance of His people. Every blessing flows from Him, but none can compare to possessing Him. To have God is to possess a treasure beyond measure that neither time nor eternity can exhaust.

“Revelation 2:10 (WEB) Don’t be afraid of the things which you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested; and you will have oppression for ten days. Be faithful to death, and I will give you the crown of life.“

Faithfulness is precious because it reflects the steadfast heart of God Himself. Heaven honours those who endure with unwavering devotion, not because they seek recognition, but because they love the One who first loved them. Every sacrifice made for Christ will one day shine with eternal significance.

“1 Thessalonians 5:24 (WEB) He who calls you is faithful, who will also do it.“

The God who calls is the God who keeps. He never abandons the work of His hands. His grace sustains, His Spirit empowers, and His faithfulness carries His people safely to the end. Our confidence rests not in our ability to hold onto Him, but in His unfailing ability to hold onto us.

May we never become collectors of blessings while neglecting the Blesser.

Pursue not merely the rewards of God, but the incomparable beauty of knowing Christ Himself. May our hearts never settle for the gifts while neglecting the Giver. Let us seek His face above His hand, His presence above His promises, and His glory above every earthly pursuit. For those who find Christ have found the Treasure hidden in the field, the Pearl of great price, the One who alone satisfies both now and forever.

Daddy, purify our hearts until Your presence becomes our greatest pursuit and Your glory our highest reward. Deliver us from chasing Your gifts while neglecting Your face. Give us the heart of Moses that cries, “If Your presence does not go with us, we will not go.” Raise up a generation that loves You in the secret place, stands firm in the wilderness, and remains faithful when no one is watching. May our lives proclaim that You are more than enough—in abundance and in lack, in victory and in waiting. Ignite within us an unquenchable hunger to know You more deeply each day.
