Our motivation – 2026.10.02

1 Corinthians 16:14 (WEB) Let all that you do be done in love.

Let us be encouraged by these words so that love, which comes from GOD, will be the only motivating force in whatever we do including being Christs ambassadors as per yesterdays devotion.
There are many reasons people do things:

  • To feel good
  • To look good
  • To be praised
  • To earn respect
  • To gain browny points
  • To earn gain favour
  • To keeps one reputation
  • To protect oneself
  • Concern of what people might think, and
  • The list goes on and on

In the Kingdom of God there is to be only one motivation force and that it love for Jesus Christ and love for those around us. This is to be the reason of all our actions, prayers, conversation, interactions, ….. This love is not our own love which is: limited, conditional and linked to: feelings, situations, reciprocation, …. It is the love that comes form GOD Himself, demonstrated through Jesus Christ in His walk on earth and ultimately on the cross. This love comes because of the indwelling of Jesus Christ in us by the Holy Spirit.

“Galatians 5:22-23 (WEB) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, [23] gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

Let us contemplate on, meditate on and pray about all the scriptures in this devotion:

  • “1 Corinthians 16:14 (WEB) Let all that you do be done in love.”
  • “John 14:15 (WEB) If you love me, keep my commandments.”
  • “John 13:34-35 (WEB) A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another. [35] By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.””
  • “John 15:8-17 (WEB) “In this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples. [9] Even as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain in my love. [10] If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and remain in his love. [11] I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full. [12] “This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you. [13] Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. [14] You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you. [15] No longer do I call you servants, for the servant doesn’t know what his lord does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you. [16] You didn’t choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you. [17] “I command these things to you, that you may love one another.”
  • “Galatians 5:16-26 (WEB) But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh. [17] For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire. [18] But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. [19] Now the deeds of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, [20] idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, [21] envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s Kingdom. [22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, [23] gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. [24] Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. [25] If we live by the Spirit, let’s also walk by the Spirit. [26] Let’s not become conceited, provoking one another, and envying one another.”
  • 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 (WEB) If I speak with the languages of men and of angels, but don’t have love, I have become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal. [2] If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but don’t have love, I am nothing. [3] If I give away all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but don’t have love, it profits me nothing. [4] Love is patient and is kind; love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud, [5] doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; [6] doesn’t rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; [7] bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. [8] Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will be done away with. Where there are various languages, they will cease. Where there is knowledge, it will be done away with. [9] For we know in part, and we prophesy in part; [10] but when that which is complete has come, then that which is partial will be done away with. [11] When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child. Now that I have become a man, I have put away childish things. [12] For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, even as I was also fully known. [13] But now faith, hope, and love remain—these three. The greatest of these is love.

If this helped, encouraged, or blessed you, pass it on to someone else who will benefit.

“Freely you received, so freely give.” [Matthew 10:8b (WEB)]
