Where praise should come from – 2026.04.15

Proverbs 27:2 (KJV) Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips. https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.27.2

In yesterdays devotion we discovered a little about boasting and pride in regards to what we will do. https://missioncommunities.network/2026/04/14/tomorrow-2026-04-14/.

Let us be encouraged today to ask ourself how often do we praise ourself in front of other people or even quietly in our heart? If we realise that we do that we need to ask the LORD to forgive us of pride and start putting our thought in perspective. In Romans 12:3 We are encouraged to think about ourselves not better than we actually are.
“(KJV) For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”. https://bible.com/bible/116/rom.12.3

Therefore let us humble ourself before the LORD and refrain on telling everyone how good we are but instead let the LORD Himself and others give praise and honour where it is due. Even in that case we need to guard our heart so that we then not become conceited by the praise of others. Instead let us always give glory to GOD for everything, including our abilities, skills, talents, gifts…. come from Him.

Let us pray. Father help me to examine my heart to see if there is any wicked way in me. Remove all pride. Help me to have the right attitude towards others and myself. Let no praise about myself ever come from me from now on. Help me to have the right perspective knowing everything comes from You and to always give glory to You. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
