1 Timothy 1:19-20 (WEB)
19 holding faith and a good conscience; which some having thrust away made a shipwreck concerning the faith;
20 of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I delivered to Satan, that they might be taught not to blaspheme.

Let us be encouraged like Paul encouraged Timothy to take the godly instruction in this letter and actually the whole Bible to heart and make them part of our life. Some people have referred to BIBILE as

“Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth”.

As we discovered in Enabled By Jesus Christ – 2026.08.14 that obedience is better than sacrifice. By being doers of the word we ensure that we are remaining in the save zone and not crib on ourselves unnecessary heart ache. “James 1:22-25 (WEB) But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves. [23] For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror; [24] for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. [25] But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.”.

This doing is not something we do to be saved, it is something that comes out of our salvation. It comes from walking in the Holy Spirit instead of walking in the flesh. Our responsibility is to decide every day to walk in the Holy Spirit by taking up our cross. “Mark 8:34-35 (WEB) He called the multitude to himself with his disciples, and said to them,

“Whoever wants to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. [35] For whoever wants to save his life will lose it; and whoever will lose his life for my sake and the sake of the Good News will save it.”.

“Galatians 5:16 (WEB) But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh.”.

Paul’s instruction to hold on to our faith and not let it go, and on keeping our conscience clear are essential tools to fighting the battles we face day in and out. In “Ephesians 6:11 (WEB) Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”.

Faith is an essential part of the amor GOD has given us. “Ephesians 6:16 (WEB) above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.”.

Having full assurance of our salvation through Jesus Christ is a helmet that will protect our mind and conscience. “Ephesians 6:17 (WEB) And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;”

This with all the other things we looked at in previous devotions on 1 Timothy 1 and other verses help us fight the good fight.

Therefore let us hold on and keep on keeping on.
