1 Timothy 1:1 (KJV) Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;

In this single verse we can see that Jesus Christ is:

  • Hope
  • LORD
  • Saviour and
  • GOD the son

We could continue with this list from going to many other scriptures but at this time we will not.

Jesus Christ is GOD. He Himself use the name of GOD that GOD revealed to Moses “I AM”.

John 8:58 (KJV) Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.” .

There are many places in the bible, including this verse, that show us that there is one GOD who is: GOD the Father, GOD the son (Jesus Christ), and GOD the Holy Spirit. Here it depicts that GOD the Father is our saviour and GOD the son is our saviour. The Father gave the Son and the Son is the gift.

John 3:16 (KJV) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Christian’s refer to the one true GOD as the trinity. We might look into this more another time.

Jesus Christ came into the word to bring hope of eternal life, hope that in heaven He is preparing a place for us and hope in many more things.

John 14:1-6 (KJV) Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. [2] In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. [3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. [4] And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. [5] Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? [6] Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (Read to verse 6)

Jesus Christ came to save us who are lost in our sin, and because of that separated from GOD. This sin requires punishment which is death. The 1st death came with the fall of Adam and Eve form this seed we were born and therefore inherit sin and separation from GOD. Sin’s ultimate punishment is being cast into the lake of fire for eternity.

Romans 3:23 (KJV) For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

John 8:24 (KJV) I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.”

It is not enough to believe that Jesus Christ is GOD, Saviour and the bringer of hope. We also must believe that He is LORD. Jesus Christ is actually the LORD of lords and King of kings. When we really believe something it will start showing in how we live. There should not be any contradiction. So if we believe that Jesus Christ is LORD we start obeying Him more and more as He teaches us His ways and shows us how to walk (live our life).

Jesus said “Luke 6:46 (NKJV) “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?”

James 2:17 (KJV) Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.”

Matthew 7:24-27 (KJV) Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: [25] And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. [26] And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: [27] And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.” (Read to verse 27)

Therefore lest us be encouraged to believe that Jesus Christ is our Hope, Saviour and LORD and that He is GOD the Son .
