Joel Chapter 1:1-20
The Locust Plague
1 𝑺 Yahweh’word that came to Joel, the son of Pethuel.
2 𝑺 Hear this, you elders,
3 𝑺 Tell your children about it,
4 𝑺 What the swarming locust has left, the great locust has eaten.
5 𝑺 Wake up, you drunkards, and weep!
6 𝑺 For a nation has come up on my land, strong, and without number.
7 𝑺 He has laid my vine waste,
8 𝑺 Mourn like a virgin dressed in sackcloth
9 𝑺 The meal offering and the drink offering are cut off from Yahweh’house.
10 𝑺 The field is laid waste.
11 𝑺 Be confounded, you farmers!
12 𝑺 The vine has dried up, and the fig tree withered—
A Call to Lament
13 𝑺 Put on sackcloth and mourn, you priests!
14 𝑺 Sanctify a fast.
15 𝑺 Alas for the day!

17 𝑺 The seeds rot under their clods.

A Cry to the LORD
19 𝑺 Yahweh, I cry to you,
20 𝑺 Yes, the animals of the field pant to you,
Joel Chapter 2:1-32
The Day of the LORD
1 𝑺 Blow the trumpet in Zion,
2 𝑺 A day of darkness and gloominess,
3 𝑺 A fire devours before them,
4 𝑺 Their appearance is as the appearance of horses,
5 𝑺 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains, they leap,
6 𝑺 At their presence the peoples are in anguish.
7 𝑺 They run like mighty men.
8 𝑺 One doesn’t jostle another.
9 𝑺 They rush on the city.
10 𝑺 The earth quakes before them.
11 𝑺 Yahweh thunders his voice before his army,
Return to Me with All Your Heart
12 𝑺 ‘Yet even now,’ says Yahweh, ‘turn to me with all your heart,
13 𝑺 Tear your heart and not your garments,
14 𝑺 Who knows? He may turn and relent,
15 𝑺 Blow the trumpet in Zion!
16 𝑺 Gather the people.
17 𝑺 Let the priests, the ministers of Yahweh, weep between the porch and the altar,
The LORD’s Pity for His People
18 𝑺 Then Yahweh was jealous for his land,
19 𝑺 Yahweh answered his people,
20 𝑺 But I will remove the northern army far away from you,
21 𝑺 Land, don’t be afraid.
22 𝑺 Don’t be afraid, you animals of the field;
23 𝑺 ‘Be glad then, you children of Zion,
24 𝑺 The threshing floors will be full of wheat,
25 𝑺 I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten,
26 𝑺 You will have plenty to eat and be satisfied,
27 𝑺 You will know that I am among Israel,
I Will Pour Out My Spirit
28 𝑺 ‘It will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh;
29 𝑺 And also on the servants and on the handmaids in those days,
Wonders in the Heavens and Earth
30 𝑺 I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth:
31 𝑺 The sun will be turned into darkness,
32 𝑺 It will happen that whoever will call on Yahweh’name shall be saved;
Joel Chapter 3:1-21
The Nations Judged
1 𝑺 ‘For, behold, in those days,
2 𝑺 I will gather all nations,
3 𝑺 and have cast lots for my people,
4 𝑺 ‘Yes, and what are you to me, Tyre and Sidon,
5 𝑺 Because you have taken my silver and my gold,
6 𝑺 and have sold the children of Judah and the children of Jerusalem to the sons of the Greeks,
7 𝑺 Behold, I will stir them up out of the place where you have sold them,
8 𝑺 and I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hands of the children of Judah,
Prepare for War
9 𝑺 Proclaim this among the nations:
10 𝑺 Beat your plowshares into swords,
11 𝑺 Hurry and come, all you surrounding nations,
12 𝑺 ‘Let the nations arouse themselves,
13 𝑺 Put in the sickle;
14 𝑺 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!
15 𝑺 The sun and the moon are darkened,
16 𝑺 Yahweh will roar from Zion,
The LORD Dwells in Zion
17 𝑺 ‘So you will know that I am Yahweh, your God,
Blessings for Judah
18 𝑺 It will happen in that day,
19 𝑺 Egypt will be a desolation
20 𝑺 But Judah will be inhabited forever,
21 𝑺 I will cleanse their blood
