1 Timothy 1:1 (KJV) Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;
The LORD Jesus Christ commanded Paul to be an apostle.
There are: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers, which are a gift of Jesus Christ to the church. Some refer to them as ascension Ministers or five fold Ministers.
Jesus Christ gave them after He ascended above all heavens (there are at least 3 heavens see “2 Corinthians 12:2 (KJV) I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.” )
In Ephesians 4:10-16 it explains all of this and the reason why jc did it. “(KJV) He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) [11] And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; [12] For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: [13] Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: [14] That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; [15] But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: [16] From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.” (Read to verse 16).
Note, that there is a difference between Ministers and ministry. Everyone in the church has a ministry but not everyone is a minister.
We can see that there are three givers GOD the Father, GOD the Son and GOD the Holy Spirit. Each one gives different type of gifts and they all work together and are interconnected. We might look at this another time (loops up 1 Corinthians 12:1-7).
Paul was obedient to that command
Therefore let all of us encouraged to be obedient and faithful to whatever GOD called us to. “1 Corinthians 4:1-2 (KJV) Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. [2] Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” (Read to verse 2)
Paul was a faithful steward of what GOD has commanded him.
Each one of us has something special to do, that was prepared by GOD.
It is not something we do to earn our salvation but it is something we do as a result of our salvation having become a follower, disciple, of Jesus Christ.
“Ephesians 2:8-10 (KJV) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. [10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Read to verse 10).
